About Us
We first started trading as Starlite Disco in 1977 supplying discos for weddings and public functions in local town halls. The aim was to use the best sound and lighting equipment that was available whilst keeping the charges to a minimum. These values are still at the heart of our business model today.
In the late 80’s we were approached by the local radio station Metro Radio to supply the support DJ and all the sound and lighting equipment for the “Metro Radio Roadshow”. This continued until 1999, during this time we also supplied similar services to a number of other organisations such as TFM, CFM, and Sun FM. We were lucky to be able to work with people and groups like Mark Knopfler, Take That and many more. We supplied the sound and lighting technicians for Metro Radio’s outside events and promotions these were sponsored by Coca Cola and others.
The mobile disco market has changed over the years, in the 70’s and 80’s our work consisted mainly of discos in town halls and outside events. Since the mid 90’s the disco market has evolved, currently we mostly work with hotels and occasionally supply discos for private functions. The company was re-launched in 2013 as Discos Direct Ltd. In 2014 Dennis L’Argent was employed as Operations Manager, Dennis has had extensive experience as a DJ. His career started in the early 80’s working with his own mobile disco as a wedding / party DJ in the 90’s Dennis worked for Mecca as a DJ in their night clubs. His role with Discos Direct is to ensure that high quality and good service is at the heart of everything we do. Dennis is responsible for matching DJ’s and the equipment to the event ensuring all the clients’ requirements are met..
Discos Direct do not use a “one size fits all” approach, the equipment that we use is specifically designed and programmed for the function room it is to be used in. This ensures that the Disco looks and sounds as it should, it also allows fees to be kept to a minimum. We have a large amount of different types of sound equipment and a comprehensive array of custom made wireless lighting and effect equipment available.

Just wanted to send a quick note to extend a huge thank you for our wedding disco. We both thought the DJ did an incredible job from start to finish. They managed to play our very mixed playlist and also managed to play most of our guests requests on the night too!. The atmosphere was incredible and everyone is still talking about how good the evening was.
…… Resident DJ Grant - Starlight disco, catered for all ages playing music from the 70's to present day to ensure that no matter of your age you were able to be up on the dance floor and join the party while playing requests, throughout the night.
…… Went to the Ramside for a disco event that was put on by the hotel. It was the dance yourself dizzy disco, which played music from old to current. You also got a 2 course meal with the event. £14 for the night and it was brill, great atmosphere and food, recommend booking one of these themed nights
